Alt means old. This old style uses no finishing hops. The bitterness has an entirely different "feel" then most beers. It drinks well.
½ lb. chocolate malt, 1/8 lb. black patent malt
Bring these grains to a mash (steep) temperature of 160-170 deg F. Hold 15-20 mins
Bring 1 gal of water to a boil in the brew pot.
Sparge grains with cool water into brew pot
Add 6.6 lbs. light malt extract
Optional - add 1 lb. honey
Boil with 2 oz Northern Brewer Hops 40 mins
Add 1-TSP Irish moss - 5 mins
Add to water in carboy, cool, add yeast
